This event is the social highlight of the Carnival. The first Cairns Amateurs Ball was held in 1959 at Cannon’s farm – a beautiful property owned by George & Dorothy Cannon.
Around 400 people attended the event which was held at the Cannon Farm until 1979 when the event was moved to the Tobruk (Memorial Baths) Pool to allow for additional attendees and a grander function.
Please note that as of July 25th, 2011 the Premium Ball Tickets and Premium Membership Packages are sold out.
2011 will see the event move to the new International Cruise Terminal showcasing this amazing new facility. To offer our Members and Guests more choice we will have two ticket types this year:
- The Premium Cairns Amateurs Ball ticket will include a plated three course dinner with allocated seating. SOLD OUT
- The Traditional Cairns Amateurs Ball ticket will be free seating with traditional buffet catering.
As it is such a gala event, the preferred dress code at the Cairns Amateurs Ball, for both members and guests is Black Tie, with a lounge suit and tie as the minimum requirement for men. Dress standards must be adhered to by all Members and their Guests or entrance may be refused.
