Carnival applauds transport trio’s feel-good fundraising effort

Getting to and from the track at next weekend’s Cairns Amateurs Carnival has not just become easier but also worthier thanks to a trio of community minded transport operators joining forces to boost transfers while raising money for the Claire Tucker Go Fund Me page.

Cairns Amateurs Carnival’s CEO Graham Thornton said he was impressed by the thoughtful collaboration and practical solution being offered to racegoers by Transit Australia Group (Sunbus Cairns), Tropic Wings and FNQ Airport Shuttles.

“As one of the city’s major events our committee always takes its patron safety very seriously through strict adherence to a transport management plan involving local emergency services, Cairns Regional Council and transport operators, and subsidising transport operations to facilitate patron safety,” Mr Thornton said.

In line with previous Carnivals, Cairns Amateurs will continue to offer subsidised Sunbus services on both race days starting at 10.30am and then running every half hour from the city to Cannon Park.  Added to this is Sunbus’ special shuttle service that runs from Cannon Park to Lake Street on both days between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.  The cost of $6 per passenger, per service will go to Claire Tucker’s Go Fund Me page.

The additional services operated by Tropic Wings and FNQ Airport Shuttles and Sunbus on the return journey will be collected as a donation fundraising for the Claire Tucker Go Fund Me page.
