Join us for the Carlton MID Amateurs Carnival on Friday 6th & Saturday 7th September 2013
The Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival is four days of Fun, Fashion, and Racing built around two days of horse racing in Cairns in early September each year.
What began as a small meeting in 1959, designed to bring city and country together, has expanded over the years to become one of Australia's premier spring horse racing carnivals.
Operated by the Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club Inc, our event has become widely, and affectionately, known as "THE CAIRNS AMATEURS"
55 years on, the Cairns Amateurs is now complemented by a host of social activities, some formal and some very informal including a number of Members-only and corporate functions as well as events and areas for the general public on both race days.
A new event in 2011, the Mercedes Fashion Passport, held at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal will be held on the 22nd of June. This is a high end fashion event and is marketed as a prelude to the Carnival, a must see for the racing fashionistas.
The beautiful mild September climate entices large crowds of locals as well as interstate visitors. Our Carnival Events for the 2013 Cairns Amateurs are from Thursday the 6th to Sunday the 9th of September 2013.
Latest News... April 17th, 2013: The Cairns Amateurs team is ecstatic to be able to announce that the Carlton MID Cairns Amateurs has been crowned with the award of Best Small Social Club 2013 in Queensland.
A special mention was made to the Carlton MID Cairns Amateurs as the only club that exceeded it’s competitors by more than 20%, a sensational coup having being named runners up for the same title in 2012.
In addition to taking out the top award in their category, the Carlton MID Cairns Amateurs also received the Queensland Government Special Achievement Award presented by the Honorable Premier, Campbell Newman himself. Read more here ...
