- Transport Choices

Over the two days of racing at the Cairns Amateurs, there are several methods in which to reach and leave Cannon Park Racecourse:

CITY BUS SERVICES

Friday - shuttle bus services will operate between Cannon Park and Cairns
City, travelling via the Southern Access Road (Ray Jones Drive). Buses will depart as required. Services will start at 4.30pm and finish at 8.00pm.

Saturday - shuttle bus services will operate between Cannon Park and Cairns
City, travelling via the Southern Access Road (Ray Jones Drive). The buses will depart as required. Services will start at 4.30pm and finish at 9.00pm.

Cost - Prior to boarding the bus passengers will be required to purchase a $5.00
ticket from the ticket booth located near the main gate. Please refer to the Traffic Management Plan for bus stand locations.

MARLIN COAST SUNBUS SERVICES

Friday - buses will leave the City Place Transit Mall every 15 minutes from 7.10am (regular services).

Saturday - buses will leave the City Place Transit Mall every 15 minutes from 7.10am (regular services).

Services operate every 15 minutes city bound both days along Mulgrave
Road. After 8pm on both days the services will revert to half hourly departures.
Pre-purchased tickets are available from the City Place Ticket Office located
in Lake Street. Opening hours are Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm.

TAXIS

Black & White Taxis will provide regular taxi services at Cannon Park over the two days of the Carnival. A taxi rank supervisor will co-ordinate the movement of passengers from the taxi rank.

LIMOUSINES

A Limousine-only standing area will be provided at Cannon Park on Friday and
Saturday for pre-booked and pre-arranged transport. The limousine standing area is located opposite the main exit gate to Cannon Park. Please refer to the Traffic Management Plan for details.

PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES

To ease congestion and free up for passenger transport services, private motor vehicles should avoid using Ishmael Road, Earlville. Free parking is available at the back entrance to Cannon Park (near the Picnic In The Park area). Please refer to the Course Map for details.

PRIVATE COACHES

For those groups travelling by private coach, a drop off and pick up point is located behind the City and Sunbus area. Please refer to the Traffic Management Plan for details.

POLICE NOTIFICATION

The Cairns and District Police have advised that random breath-testing will occur during the Carnival.

Remember, if your party is driving to the Carnival, designate a driver. Do not drink and drive.
