Wednesday 23 August 2023. In a black-tie occasion befitting Far North Queensland’s social event of the year, Cairns Amateurs Carnival will turn up the wattage for its 65-year anniversary Sapphire Ball, a night celebrating stage and screen.
The Sapphire Ball will be held on Friday 8 September 2023 within the waterfront marquee overlooking Cairns Esplanade. Click here to find out more and to book.
Within the waterfront marquee overlooking the Cairns Esplanade, more than 500 ballgoers will be treated to a gilt-edged entertainment program laden with local talent and ‘wow’ elements spanning musical style theatrics, high-energy choreographed dance performances, live band and pyrotechnics which all take a cue from the Cairns Amateurs Sapphire Jubilee program and a night celebrating stage and screen’ theme.
Loved for its unique and winning blend of food, hospitality, and live entertainment, replete with spectacular fireworks over Trinity Inlet, this year’s ball features Cairns’ best in the business when it comes to special events, notably the award-winning team from Ochre Restaurant and Catering, the talented KL Performance Industry Dancers, and local band, Kaweyova.
Cairns Amateurs Carnival President, David Goodman said the Amateurs ball is among his favourite events whose long tradition has been refined and refreshed, enjoying a resurgence in popularity among the next generation of racegoers.
“This event really is our city’s night of nights, a one-of-a-kind celebration with its own unique brand of Far North Queensland hospitality and flair. Each year we work hard to raise the bar in being the best black-tie gala in town, the one that cannot be missed and is best remembered,” Mr Goodman said.
Special guests attending the Cairns Amateurs Carnival in 2023 and Sapphire Ball include Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, Queensland’s Minister for Racing, the Honourable Grace Grace, MP, honorary Patron, Member for Cairns and Queensland’s Assistant Minister for Tourism Industry Development, Michael Healy MP, Bart Sinclair OAM and Carnival Ambassador, Em Scodellaro.
General carnival admission is $35 per person at the gate or $30 online and two-day membership packages from just $180 per person. All tickets and events can be booked and purchased through our website.
