Cairns Amateurs’ long-term partnership with TAB has been elevated in 2019 with a series of new activations that include offering ball-goers the ultimate prize of an all-expenses trip to the richest horse race in Australia, the richest turf race in the world, The Everest.

This year The TAB Everest will be run at Randwick Race Course, Sydney on Saturday 19 October 2019.

Cairns Amateurs President Ross Moller said that while tickets to the ANZ Amateurs Masquerade Ball are highly sought after, TAB was keen to align itself with the city’s pinnacle social event, and in so doing, have curated a truly aspirational prize.

“In collaboration with Helloworld Cairns and Crystalbrook Collection, everyone attending this year’s waterfront, black-tie event will be in with a chance to win an all-inclusive, travel prize valued at $5000,” Mr Moller said.

The prize includes two tickets to Sydney Race Carnival’s The TAB Everest as guests of the TAB Box (includes all food and beverage) along with two nights of accommodation at Little Albion, Crystalbrook Collection’s inner-city hotel and return air travel from Cairns.

According to Mr Moller, this year’s Ball has already upped its ante as a strictly, black tie themed, masquerade affair and with the latest addition of the TAB prize, will not be out sparkled.

Taking place from 6.30pm to midnight on Friday, 13 September on the Cairns Esplanade’s Eastern Event Lawn, the gala event will, as per long standing tradition, be attended by Governor Paul de Jersey whose job it is to signal the start of a fabulous party.

This year organisers have also enhanced the entertainment value with a non-stop program that is yet to be revealed but will see the Cairns social set rub shoulders with the who’s who of racing royalty from Far North Queensland and beyond.

In between ACE DJ, will keep the dance floor pumping after guests have enjoyed a delicious menu of pre-dinner canapés followed by fresh seafood, Mediterranean and Asian-inspired gourmet delights, decadent desserts, and free-flowing premium beverages from the award-winning crew at Ochre Catering.

In 2019, the Ball will be staged for the third year running, within a glamorous marquee situated on the Eastern Event Lawn of Cairns’ pristine Esplanade, with a stunning fireworks display lighting up the calm waters of Trinity Inlet to conclude a truly spectacular evening.

Mr Moller said hosting the Ball at one of Cairns most picturesque waterfront locations firmly positions the city at the epicentre of social activity.

Another special element of this year’s Ball is its platform partnership with local charity COUCH including a special fundraising auction that will be held throughout during the evening.

“This year we are proudly supporting COUCH in the construction of its Health Wellness Centre with proceeds directly benefiting this worthy cause founded by one of our most passionate former members, Charles Woodward and family,” he said.
